Hi Folks,
I must confess I’ve only programmed in Actionscript, Comal, Basic & occasionally cobol. I’m talking at least 15 years ago.
I’m currently trying to come up with a low cost method for converting different types of projector films Super 8,16 & 32mm into a digital format.
The industry standard method is to project each frame on a CCD and capture from there…however most of the good equipment for this is stupidly expensive & subject to occasional flaws in the transfer.I have been using a flatbed scanner to capture frames and I’ve been amazed at the quality this can produce on each frame, but the problem is that it is slow for each pass across the glass.
I’m wondering if it is even possible to write a driver/api that can lock the scan head & allow me to roll each frame over it in a continuous run without stopping while streaming to a PC over USB?If anyone thinks this is possible then I may consider learning C# to allow me to develop such a capability.
Thanks
Chris
P.S. I have over 2 miles of film to work through 🙂
Chris,
That is not possible with TWAIN. Even the scanner API’s from various vendors which I have in mind do not support such a feature.
You programming languages does not limit you here. It is just the case that the scanner firmware is not designed for such an case except you have a very special scanner.
Best regards,
