I am trying to use Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0 to recognize my HP Laserjet 3020 scanner. However, even though the scanner is TWAIN-compatible, Acrobat does not recognize it.
While I am able to connect to the scanner via the HP Scan software, this software has several major limitations (e.g. it creates very large files – 500-900K for 1 B&W text page) and so I am desperately looking to operate the scanner via different software.
Does anyone know how I can get Acrobat to communicate with the scanner?
Any help on this would be GREATLY appreciated.
thanks
Mikep.s. I have an OS 10.3.9 system on a G4 Sawtooth 2000
I’m using the HP Color Laserjet 2840 and scanning with Acrobat (partly) works. The driver should install a TWAIN data source which should be visible within Acrobat (Use Create Document -> Scanning…).
To check whether TWAIN is installed you can try “Image Capture” from Apple. There is a menu entry called “Browsing” where you can select TWAIN plugins and use them.
My problem with acrobat is that only the first page is scanned even when I try to scan several pages. Scanning several pages works with Image Capture but the generated files are huge, by importing them into Acrobat you should be able to decrease the file size.
