Data sources are disappeared suddenly after sometime in the Select Source dialog.
Our company purchased an imaging SDK which includes TWAIN scanning support.
I developed an application with the SDK.
(I don’t know what is going under the SDK. I mean that I am a TWAIN newbie.)We have customers who is using the application.
All of them are using the exactly same scanner, Fujitsu fi-6130dj.
The distribution of the application was done 6 months ago.
Until the last month, everything was fine and worked correctly.Recently, some customers reported that they can’t scan a document from the application.
I had visited them and spent some time to check what was going wrong.
Nothing is listed in the “Select Source” dialog.
I’ve also tried to pop up the dialog from a free viewer program that has TWAIN scanning support.
The results were same.Strangely, if I create a new Windows account and log in using the new account,
I can see two data sources in the dialog and scan successfully :
– FUJITSU fi-6130dj 9.21 (32-32)
– WIA-fi-6130dj 1.0 (32-32)I don’t know what is going wrong.
Is there some account environmental settings or something like that which could affect the TWAIN data source loading ?
What should I do inspect ?The customers are using :
– Windows XP SP3
– Fujitsu fi-6130djAnything will be greatly helpful for me.
Thanks.
It looks like that a DLL that the FUJITSU driver is refering to is missing at the current users installation.
Have you tried to re-install the FUJITSU driver?
Best regards,
Kaij
Don’t forget that the Fujitsu driver reads and writes its templates files directly to C:WindowsTWAIN_32 subfolders, so be sure to have rights for any user to these folders.

Yes, I have tried to re-install it.
OK, I’ll visit the customer soon and try to compare the DLL loading status between the two user accounts.
Thanks.

I’ll visit our customer and check the rights on the customer’s problematic PC soon.
By the way, what is the templates files for ? Do you mean a Fujitsu scanner specific configurations or something like that ?
Thanks.

When you run your application and select source, the application will read the driver info from the files under C:WindowsTWAIN_32.
If the problem persists after you reinstall the driver, and if the users are using Vista/7/2008, you may ask them to run the application as administrator to see if it works.

On the TWAIN GUI you will see a set of pre-defined settings for the scanner, and you can add your own sets of parameters. These settings are simply files (an obscure ini format) in the driver folder, .fts extension if I remember well.
I just recall that the Fujitsu TWAIN driver is only visible in DSM SelectSoure dialog when it is connected to USB and switch on.
