if I were going to comment one one thing from your code (it looks like it…) it would be:

I don’t think this is a success way to deal with twain return codes. There are cases where you get rc == failure, but when you check the cc you see cc==success – which would indicate that everything is ok. There are other cases where you get *almost* what you asked for – say you try to set the resolution to 300 but the source doesn’t like 300 and sets itself to 300.222 In that case you may get a checkStatus return code.
